NOW® Betaine Hydrochloride is designed to support proper digestion in the stomach. Hydrochloric acid (hydrochloride) is normally produced in the stomach, where it aids in the digestion of proteins by activating pepsin, helping to maintain a healthy balance of intestinal flora, and stimulating the release of intestinal enzymes. Pepsin is a protease produced in the stomach that partially breaks down protein in food. Hydrochloride production tends to decrease with age, so supplementing with hydrochloride and pepsin can help support normal digestion. This product uses a vegetarian acid-stable protease with activity equivalent to that of animal-derived pepsin.
Directions for Use
Take 1 capsule at the start of each meal. Do not take on an empty stomach. Do not take if you have a stomach or duodenal ulcer.
